It's spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you've got it, you want — oh, you don't quite know what it is youdowant, but it just fairly makes your heartache, you want it so!
— Mark Twain
Spring is in the air, ah! You can smell its glorious scent everywhere, my nose caught a whiff just outside my door and my memory receptors took me straight back to my childhood, the first time I understood what spring smelt like.
I remember the day, I could probably tell you what I wore and how happy the sensation of smelling fragrant spring air felt like, it would have been one of the last times I smelt spring in my birth country and I never forgot it.
There is something pure and exciting about spring. The anticipation of renewal, the freshness and the energy a brand new season delivers. Spring is a glorious time of rebirth and renewal. The fact that all of nature is always in the process of transformation is most apparent in spring.
Everywhere we turn we see evidence of the cycle of new beginnings. The seasonal surge of hope moves into and through us, creating an impetus to make a fresh start. It is a perfect time to renew ourselves, look inward and create a new start.
Each period of lifebrings it's own ebb and flow. Spring, has us celebrating new life, like skipping through a field of flowers.
Changes that make a positive difference aren't always dramatic, they can be small adjustments, start a hobby, grow a difficult plant or learn a new language, one word a day. Even when we make a very small difference to our routine or mental viewpoint, it can make a significant impact on our feelings of well-being. Even a walk in the park.
As the motivational speaker Ed Foreman says: "If we always do what we've always done, then we're going to get what we've always got."
One of the biggest obstacles comes up when we attempt to avoid the pain of change, it is here for many of us that we fall into the trap and cling to the past. Ironically, it is our most painful memories that we remain most attached to.
So forget spring-cleaninggo outside and smell the fresh blooms and allow the fragrance to permeate through your soul. Take a deep breath in and allow spring to fill you with its fresh buzz.
