UKZN Extended Learning - Golf Day with a Difference

Date: 2015-10-23
UKZN Extended Learning annual Golf Day is a significant event on the Institution's calendar, bringing together the business sector, donors, alumni, friends and members of the University's internal community.

The CEO of UKZN Extended Learning, Simon Tankard, thanked all the sponsors for their contribution to the success of the annual Golf Day, and announced that their support and investment would be recognized through a number of initiatives in continuing education, including the provision of work experience opportunities for UKZN final year students and graduates; the design of a bridging programme for work seekers and new employees to fast track their understanding of the 'world of work'; and the provision of free Maths and Science 'booster' courses to Grade 11 learners from public schools in KZN, in the summer, to help prepare them for their Grade 12 school year in 2016. "Together, we are all making a positive impact in our communities", he concluded.

This year marks the 3rdAnnual Golf Day, organised by UKZN's Extended Learning, and was held at the plush Mount Edgecombe Country Club. Gold Sponsors were Standard Bank and Liberty Corporate. Silver Sponsor was Sage, Bronze Sponsors were Proverp, Ennovate, Times3 Technology, the Tee Boxes were sponsored by Prontaprint and Bidvest Bank.

Sponsors, including Standard Bank and Liberty, were thanked for making a difference through support for Continuing Education. The bank's spokes person said: 'Standard Bank's involvement with this initiative is solid. We strongly believe that the cornerstone of a proud and economically active society is built on a foundation of education."
