Bush Bashing Terios
Bush Bashing Terios
Do not think for a minute that a double overhead cam, VVT, 1500cc engine that produce 80kW at 6 000 r/min and 141Nm of torque at 4 400 r/min is too small for the latest offering from Daihatsu. Great fuel economy at 8.1 l/100km from its 50l tank and just 190g CO2/km. Light to the driver's touch thanks to power-assisted steering, the new Terios is perky in its performance without damaging the environment.
Like a warthog, the Terios is supremely competent in the bush and, with due caution, is able to tackle most off-road hazards in a competent manner. In the 4x4 version there is permanent 4WD and the option of being able to electronically engage the mechanical centre diff lock. When driving on gravel roads the Terios feels very solid, with no floaty intensions; which is much better for safety and the steering feel is direct and solid. The ride height is exceptional at 205mm, the Terios sits high off the ground and the approach and departure angles (38 degrees and 37 degrees respectively) are superb and best in class, which offers exceptional off-road ability for this compact SUV. The Off-road edition of the model also has a mechanical limited slip on the rear differential, has higher ground clearance and huge approach and departure angles with in-dash GPS system.
