Aerotropolis KZN Plans to be Unveiled at World Conference

Date: 2013-04-05
Dube TradePort Corporation, together with its strategic partners, is set to unveil plans for Aerotropolis: KZN at the Airport Cities World Conference & Exhibition, which is being staged in Africa for the first time.

The event, held between 24 and 26 April, promises a spectacular program, which is educational, engaging and rich in insights. This is a unique opportunity to learn from top professionals and to share our understanding of Airport City development and its importance to global commerce and the development of Africa.

Dube TradePort Corporation and its partners plan to demonstrate Aerotropolis KZN's unique attributes and the role it is set to play in the broad economic development of South Africa, given its unique location between two of Africa's major seaports of - Durban and Richards Bay - its 32 000-acre 'Greenfield' site and the longest airport runway at sea-level in South Africa, capable of accommodating the largest aircraft in the world.

The Airport Cities World Conference & Exhibition will also provide a shared-learning opportunity for Dube TradePort Corporation and its partners with regard to a range of conference topics, inclusive of the master-plan; understanding and implementing clear visions for the airport and airport area; and discussing key goals, objectives and future demands on infrastructure development. Topic elements include future proofing infrastructure and capacity demands, inter-terminal accessibility and metropolitan connectivity and collaborative regional planning.

Conference topics, presented by experts in their fields, will drill down into what it takes to develop a successful aerotropolis. Also included will be a Master-class presented by Professor John Kasarda, Director of the Center for Air Commerce at the University of North Carolina in the USA, who is widely regarded as the father of the aerotropolis concept.

Dube TradePort Corporation and its partners aim to capitalise on the platform provided at the Airport cities World Conference & Exhibition to advance programmes which will assist in the achievement of combined efforts to be an economic development catalyst for KwaZulu-Natal.

Aerotropolis KZN, the heart of which is Dube TradePort - home to King Shaka International Airport - affords KwaZulu-Natal a unique business and tourism opportunity to significantly grow the countless opportunities the region has to offer.
