Just call me Nelson

Just call me Nelson

Author: Kasia Yoko

A book about a cat adventurer

I guess you do not have to be a cat lover to appreciate a good cat story, as local busy bee cat lover Nola Mitchell relayed to me.

We met at the Beverly Hills Hotel on a crisp sunny afternoon; Nola arrived with a box full of her freshly published books. Soon after settling in her seat, with the wide expanse of the ocean, Nola said, "You know this book is not just about the cat, this book is about serendipity and all the coincidences that led us becoming the guardians of this cat called Nelson."

The story starts in the slums of Brazil where a Cape Town yachtie and antiques buyer rescued the cat and brought it on board his yacht.

Together they endured many hardships and fantastic adventures, even being stuck in a life raft for over forty days, but that is all I am going to reveal, the rest you will have to find out for yourself and so you have to read this book, whether you are a cat lover or not.

Here is a short extract:

"After going absent without leave a few times and giving us a sleepless night when he was mistakenly locked in a neighbour's garage, Nelson took up residence in our home permanently. His personality soon manifested itself. He was not just any old cat, he was quite definitely a cat with CHARACTER and very different in temperament from Sammy."

Meeting Nola was a sweet occasion, not only did I meet a talented writer, I also met our very own Bell Ringer. Together with a team of Bell Ringers, Nola sounds St Mary's and St. Paul's bells every Sundayshe is also an avid rower and off course Nelson's human mother.

If you would like to purchase the book you can contact Nola on nolam@mweb.co.za. The books can also be brought at the Oyster Box. You can als.o become friends with Nelson on Facebook, go to https://www.facebook.com/Nelson-Gaspar-Inkosi-Mitchell.
