Durban Pops unite with Rotary Charities

Durban Pops unite with Rotary Charities

Date: 2012-11-01
The annual and highly anticipated Durban Pops in association with Adapt IT and the Rotary Club of Kloof takes place on Saturday, 10th November at the prestigious Durban City Hall. The renowned KZN Philharmonic Orchestra will be performing alongside internationally acclaimed singer Joseph Clark. The orchestra will be conducted by Richard Cock.

The proceeds from this year's event will be donated to SMILE (St Mary's Interactive Learning Experience) and other Rotary Charities. SMILE is a national, community-based organisation which evolved out of an urgent need in education to develop the English language skills of disadvantaged learners and their teachers. SMILE provides teacher training and support in primary and high schools, offers an English Oral Conversation Skills programme and, since the start of 2012, SMILE publishes their own learner books, teacher guides and readers in English First Additional language.

SMILE celebrates its 21st Birthday this year and continues to make a difference - one teacher, one learner and one textbook at a time.
