"The school would bring about dignity to the people of KwaDukuza as it is amongst the few primary education institutions founded under the post-colonial government and finds expression in the Freedom Charter in the clause named, the "Doors of learning shall be open", said Mthembu in his address to the community of Nkobongo today.
KZN MEC for Education, Peggy Nkonyeni said her department has spent over R 22 million into the project. "The school consists of 26 classrooms, a sports field, a computer lab, a library, a multi-purpose centre, 16 ablution blocks and an Early Childhood Development centre".
A personal account of Rhirandzu Ndlovu, a ten year old learner in Grade 4 at Dinuphozo congratulated her school Principal for rising to the occasion despite difficulties in the past, describing her as a women with grit and determination.
"There were so many challenges in the past. We didn't have water, sanitation and classroom space. We used the Nkobongo Hall as our school. Dust engulfed us every day as we cleaned up. But we maintained our sanity, grinded our teeth and persevered. The women who had the tenacity to face the music is no other than our principal, Miss P.P. Vilakazi. Now we stand here today, tall and proud. Our new school, our new Dinuphozo Primary", she said.
