F1 Report

The 2014 Formula 1 Grand Prix got off to a dramatic start with everything you could expect from an F1 track day and then a whole lot more.

On the day Mercedes' Nico Rosberg showed off his new sixteen hundred, turbo machine, of which his competitors saw mostly the rear view. Rosberg grabbed the lead from the start, when they finally got away, and was not challenged for the rest of the race.

Taking the Bull by the horns, local racing hero Daniel Ricciardo followed Rosberg home to be the first Australian to take the podium at home.

The Dane, Kevin Magnussen brought the McClaren Mercedes home to complete the third place on the podium.

The day was filled with false starts, collisions that brought out the safety car, tyres running away from their chariots and a whole lot of excitement.

The most depressing event of the day was when Red Bull driver Daniel Riccardo was stripped of his second place finish when controversy over the fuel regulators used by team Red Bull and the amount of fuel that was flowing to Daniel's Red Bull car exceeded the FIA regulations.

This done, the podium changed and the second McClaren-Mercedes of Jenson Button was moved up into third place, making it an all Mercedes podium.

The next event is the controversial Malasian Grand Prix, race day is Sunday the 30th of March and will surely be a hotly contested and exciting event.
