Donation from Zimbali Charity Club
"We are working with Karenne Jo Bloomgarden of Library Books for Disadvantaged Schools, and have decided to concentrate on a specific project which we can visit and monitor how the money is being spent. Many schools do not even have book shelves and put books directly onto dirty floors. We hope to change this situation at the Maguyana school."
The donation to the Christmas Fair Fund is part of the Zimbali Charity Club's active social responsibility programme. The Club raises funds through the annual Zimbali Country Club charity golf day, with major sponsorships from Tongaat Hulett Developments and IFA Hotels & Resorts. During the last 8 years, this Zimbali event has raised R1,2 million and, until more recently, has focussed on building a NOAH Community Resource Centre for the large number of AIDS orphans in the Nkobongo area.
Says chairman of the Zimbali Charity Club, David Manly, "From 2012, we have decided to support other deserving causes in our area, like this donation to the Christmas Fair Fund, which is a well established local charity organisation ."
The donor cheque was handed over by Felicity Jameson and David Manly of Zimbali Charity Club to June Garner & Michelle Blake, Chairlady and Vice Chairlady respectively of the Christmas Fair Fund.
