Christmas at the Monastery

Christmas at the Monastery

Date: 2016-12-16
Baroque2000's last concert of the year, with Christmas pieces from theBaroquerepertoire, is at 1130 am on Sunday December 18 at the Church of the Monastery, Mariannhill. Corrette's Symphonie contenant les plus beaux No'ls no 4 - incorporates Christmas carols from America, Germany and France. In Vivaldi's violin concerto in E major, il Riposo - per il Santissimo Natale (for the most holy birth), the soloist will be Ralitza Macheva. Torelli's Christmas concerto, and Corelli's concerto for Christmas night are the other seasonal items. The other works are Torelli's Sonata in D for trumpet, G9, soloist Michel Schneuwly, and Bach's Jesu, joy of Man's Desiring, the much-loved Cantata excerpt often performed at Christmas.

Tickets are R140 at the door, and the Monastery tea garden will be open for breakfasts and lunches. Parking is free and safe. Subscriptions are now available for the eight concerts of 2017, the ensemble's 20th birthday year.
