Punters and fashionistas spellbound by The Gallops

Punters and fashionistas spellbound by The Gallops

Date: 2017-06-30

As the countdown to the 2017 Vodacom Durban July reached nine days to go, a big crowd of die-hard punters, socialites and fashionistas converged on Greyville Racecourse on Thursday morning for the traditional Vodacom Durban July Gallops.

With the first runner off at 7am, the thoroughbreds shortlisted in the Final Field were put through their paces over the final one thousand meters of the Greyville Racecourse track while the punters and racing scribes scrutinised each of them closely.

The crowd enjoyed the mild winter morning and the customary complimentary coffee and sticky buns as the thoroughbreds completed their Gallops.

With the majority of the infield Marquee Village already constructed, Greyville Racecourse exuded excitement and anticipation ahead of the R4,25 million Vodacom Durban July next Saturday 1 July.

Ticket sales have increased significantly this week, and Gold Circle has urged eager racing fans to get their tickets from Computicket well in advance to avoid the risk of disappointment.

The 2017 Vodacom Durban July takes place at Greyville Racecourse on Saturday 1 July.
