ASHTON CELEBRATES 2012 IEB MATRIC RESULTS
2012 is Ashton's 3rd group of matriculants, and the biggest, with 37 students writing the challenging Independent Education Board's final examinations. Seven students were rewarded with A aggregates. Proxime Accessit, Roshavia Kumcarun was Ashton's top achiever with seven distinctions and an average of 87%; Kirov Juganath (Deputy Head Boy) also attained seven distinctions with an average of 85%; whilst Nadia Habig, (Deputy Head Girl) clinched six distinctions with a B symbol for Mathematics and an average of 85%. Other achievers were Katherine Brokensha, 2012 Dux (5 distinctions and an average of 86%); Shaveer Badul (5 distinctions with an average of 84%); 4 distinctions with an average of 81% was achieved by Nic Birch (Head Boy) and Cassie Taylor (Head Girl) attained 4 distinctions with an average of 82%. Tenille Brewer achieved 3 distinctions with an average of 75%.
"Of the group of 37 students, 31 passed with entry to study a Bachelors Degree, representing 84% of students. In total we had 55 A symbols and 77 B symbols and 50 C symbols. "An outstanding result and certainly one every school strives for", said Mr Shawn Moodley, Academic Head and Deputy Head of Ashton Senior College. "Special mention must be made of our four Head Prefects, who were also house captains, and yet managed to rake in 21 distinctions between them," he added.
