DHS climbers help the Open Air kids pass the sky as their limit!

DHS climbers help the Open Air kids pass the sky as their limit!

Date: 2014-03-07
The Durban High School climbing team is once again showing their compassionate spirit and love of climbing with younger learners through their coaching programme, which sees Grade 1 Open Air School learners, representing the Special Schools community, visiting DHS every Friday to be trained individually by three Matric climbers - Jordan Pillai, Lindani Msomi and Donovan Hulett - at the DHS climbing wall.

Having started this initiative last year, the coaching programme has grown and the children have learnt a great deal of confidence and trust and love for the sport.

This year, as part of DHS's involvement in coaching these children, they will be incorporating them into the U6 learners with special educational needs category in the KZN schools climbing league, which is the first of its kind to ever be done in the country.

Durban High School wish the four spirited learners well as they participate this year and look forward to coaching them in the weeks to come.
