For all arts & crafts lovers, an exciting morning with Karen Dennyschene

For all arts & crafts lovers, an exciting morning with Karen Dennyschene

Date: 2016-05-06
Karen will be demonstrating the art of painting on sheer fabric presented by North Coast Artists. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy a morning of creative inspiration on the 14 May from 9 am to 12 noon. It's also a great way to meet and greet fellow art and craft enthusiasts over a cuppa and some yummy snacks.

Karen is an artist and an art teacher based in her hometown Umhlanga. She finds inspiration in the vivid colours and energy of her natural surroundings. The shades of flowers like orchids and the changing colours of the sea of the KwaZulu-Natal coast inspire her. She paints in acrylics, oils and watercolours and enjoys experimenting with mixed media, often incorporating metallic paints into the artwork to make a subtle statement.

Karen's signature works are botanical, floral and wildlife paintings, which are soft and gentle or bold and bright depending on her mood. Her work is detailed and meticulously executed.

At the demonstration Karen will show you how to turn transparent fabric such as silk or organza into a strong, durable painting surface. Her finished artwork retains its transparency and is ideal for layering in collage, for printing on, painting on, sewing, appliques, embellishing with beads or thread. The painting will be washable and permanent and is suitable for fine art or crafts.

The venue for this fun and educational morning will be at the Church Hall, 2 Newport Avenue, Virginia (entrance just after Danville High School). An entrance fee of R40 includes refreshments.
