Swaadisht Opens In Umhlanga
Taking over from Sorisha Naidoo's Shisa 568 store in the Umhlanga Shopping Centre, the old Buxton Centre, entrepreneur Jay Rambulip opened his tenth Swaadisht store in the heart of Umhlanga. Swaadisht translates from Sanskrit to 'delicious' and the food they had on offer at the launch was exactly that. The golden brown Gulab Jamuns, soaking in honey rosewater, that they had out on their desserts buffet for the launch event, were a testament to delicious food what we were about to experience from their talented and experienced Chef's. The Swaadisht franchise range of restaurants are well known to many Durban diners, with restaurants in Durban, Shallcross, New Germany, Pinetown and now also in Pietermaritzburg. Swaadisht are famous for their win in the 'Coca-Cola Best Bunny' competition, which they won in 2012. Besides Bunny Chow on the menu, they also offer a range of curries from traditional Indian to the South African version, even Chinese dishes and all the breads, from roti to naan and parathas. Swaadisht is a family orientated restaurant that offers take away meals for those who prefer to eat at home. They have an extensive selection of vegetarian dishes with a range of delightful paneer preparations. Their Mutton Rogan Josh and Butter Chicken are among the favourites and they have a selection of rice dishes for accompaniment. So the next time you feel like a real Indian curry or a good Chinese noodle dish, get to Swaadisht in Umhlanga Centre, Ridge Road and know that you are in for a treat.
