GTi Is Back!

GTi Is Back!

Date: 2013-06-27
Peugeot has made its mark in the history of motor sport. Whether through its models, its success in competition or its infamy through advertising and promotions, the Marque's DNA has the best genes for creating the modern performance GTi.

The expectation was simple: to create a playful and chic sports car, a contemporary interpretation of the legend that is the Peugeot GTi.

The objective: to produce an engaging sporty performance with driving pleasure never experienced before. An experience that speaks immediately to all enthusiasts: performance, power, reactivity, and an aura of respect and desire. While the 205 GTi was the natural inspiration, the 208 GTi is its modern interpretation.

The Peugeot 208 is an excellent base for developing a sports hatchback. Particular and precise attention was given to the steering response, the chassis dynamics and the rigidity of the suspension. The GTi successfully combines performance, safety and driving pleasure.

Intended for the busy individual with high expectations, the 208 GTi benefits from sophisticated choices of the materials and colours employed. The three-door model is specially identified by bodywork components, which enhance the overall effect.

A driving experience, which promises to engage enthusiasts, it combines performance, safety and driving pleasure.

The 1.6 engine expresses itself through a reworked exhaust system. As soon as the ignition is switched on, it emits an appealing sound that delights the ears, at all engine speeds. Coupled with a manual gearbox with six close-ratio gears, the engine draws the full potential from this chassis. With its maximum torque of 275 Nm and maximum power of 147kW, the GTi has the potential of acceleration to the highest level. 0 - 100 km is reached in less than 7 seconds, with 0 - 1000 in 27 seconds. The in-gear reacceleration is equally impressive, with the 208 GTi accelerating from 80 - 120 km/h in less than 7 seconds in 5th gear.

The performance benefits from the improvements achieved lightening the weight of the vehicle. Light in weight, at 1160kg, the 208 GTi achieves the real feat by emitting Co2 at just 145g/km.

The launch of the 208 GTi in South Africa during July will combine intrinsic qualities with those of comfort, versatility and occupant space.

So get down to Peugeot Umhlanga and take the new Peugeot 208 GTi for a test drive and experience the thrill that is GTi. Call them on 031575 9000 or visit their showroom at 192 Ridge Road, Umhlanga Village. The 208 GTi is only waiting for one thing. Ignition!
