Wailin' Blues in Durban this October
The festival is in its eleventh year now and the organizers, having recognized the growth of audiences over the past ten years, will celebrate this year's event with a new format.
"We agree that for the ticketed evenings, a venue with more capacity is needed than that of the traditional venue, Zack's at Wilson's Wharf," says Festival Director Themi Venturas. "For this reason, ticketed concerts will take place at the University of KZN's popular Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre, whilst the non-ticketed (free) evenings will continue at Zacks's, Wilson's Wharf as it has for the last decade."
In addition, The Durban International Blues Festival will once again make two free concerts available to fans who cannot afford the price of the R150 ticketed shows. These concerts will be held at the traditional venue at Zack's, Wilson's Wharf on Friday 30th October and Saturday 31st October and will feature some of the blues circuit's hottest blues names in the lineup.
Khalif Wailin' Walters will also host a free Blues Master - class at the Durban Music School at 11 am on Saturday 31st October. Blues enthusiasts wishing to attend this event will need to book a place with Pinkie Mtshali by calling 082 9612165 or emailing pinkiemtshali@gmail.com.
