When asked about traditional Italian food, many will begin with the olive oil, pasta, cheese and ham. It's a known fact that traditional Italian recipes are kept alive by a few dedicated food artisans that have made it their life's objective to promote and produce these delights, and carry on their unique method of preparation.

L'edicola Italian delicatessen, which opened at the Quarters in Ballito, is a testament to Italian traditions and culture, they offer authentic imported and local Italian ingredients direct to wholesale customers and to the public. The L'edicola name is legendary in Durban and has been at the Centre of the Italian Foodie community since the 80's when it first opened its doors to the public originally selling Italian newspapers then evolving into an authentic Italian deli and grocer making it arguably the oldest Italian delicatessen in the Country .

John Maggiorino grew up assisting his parents manage the first L'edicola Deli in Durban and today he is proud to be sourcing only the finest Italian Delicacies for the Ballito community.

He says that he is passionate in delivering only the very best Italian brands, having maintained a close and personal relationship with Italian suppliers at source over the years.
