Shane Sykes Surfs For SA

Author: Tomas Yoko
Date: 2013-02-13
Up coming local surfing star Shane Sykes who is just fifteen years old, has been chosen to represent South Africa in the team that is going to Nicaragua to surf in the "World Juniors" event.

Shane lives on the North Coast and was mentored by none other than surfing star Tammy Lee Smith. Shane has been surfing for six years and has been consistently achieving excellent results in all the competitions he has entered. Shane showed his supremacy in last year's S.A. Champs title, and again three weeks ago in the trials held in St Francis, where he was chosen to represent South Africa in the World Juniors Championships, only four surfers were chosen out of twenty competitors.

Sponsored by Billabong, Shane has clear goals for his surfing career, just fifteen years old and he knows what he has to offer the world and what he wants from it. Growing up in the surfing community on the North Coast, Shane is a member of Wave Wizzards and has been known to knock out even his elder brother Justin in surf competitions.
