GAC GS3 EMZOOM Bold, tech-loaded and priced with genuine intent

GAC GS3 EMZOOM Bold, tech-loaded and priced with genuine intent

There is a quiet revolution happening in South African showrooms and the GAC Emzoom is one of its most compelling arguments. Bold, tech-loaded and priced with genuine intent, this compact crossover from one of China's largest automotive groups arrives with something increasingly rare in its segment. A reason to stop and pay serious attention.

The styling alone guarantees that. GAC calls it flying-mecha design and while that sounds like something from a science fiction screenplay, it translates on the road into a genuinely head-turning silhouette. Sharp creases, hidden door handles, 18-inch alloys and a 66-LED tail-light cluster that draws stares in traffic like a celebrity at a petrol station. This is not a car that apologises for itself.

Under the bonnet sits a 1.5-litre turbopetrol engine producing a healthy 130 kW and 270 Nm of torque, routed through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission to the front wheels. Fuel consumption is a claimed 6.2 L/100 km and the driving experience is refined, comfortable and entirely at home on the open road. Inside, the 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay, 21 storage compartments, dual-zone climate control, keyless entry and a reverse camera make the cabin feel considerably more expensive than the entry price suggests.

And that price is where GAC plays its trump card. The Emzoom range starts from R359 900 and comes backed by a five-year/150 000 km warranty, a five-year/60 000 km service plan and the headline act that nobody else in this segment can match, a lifetime engine warranty for the first owner. Unlimited years. Unlimited kilometres.
