Azure Olympic Dreams
Azure Olympic Dreams
It all started when Britain announced that Stella McCartney would create the official range of garments for team GB. Not soon after, names such as Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren and Prada entered the race to see who would be putting their names to official Olympic kit. Closer to home, Durban-based designer Leigh Schubert won the race for the SA team-kit. And it does not end there. The influence of this stylish event has seeped through to ready to wear fashion, make-up and even décor.
The Olympic medals are adding sparkle as metallic in sliver; gold and bronze appear in fabric, embellishments and accessories. This shine is not reserved for evening wear, it's ok to shimmer whenever the mood takes you.
Sequins and embellishments on jeans are huge, full-sequined jackets, metallic embroidery, shimmery scarves, and bold gold and sliver chains are making a statement. Metallic eye-shadows that shimmer rather than shines and bronzing blushers are make-up must-haves.
The British flag has brought red, white and blue to the front of the colour spectrum and the flag design is appearing on shoes, bags, t-shirts and dresses, and in home-ware in the form of cushions, rugs and even lampshades.
In a less obvious take, a solid colour can be accented with colour? such as a simple blue navy dress with a big red waist belt and a broad white hair-band. Race to the Azure Collection to stay ahead of the game in the seasons most edge trends as inspired by the 2012 Olympic Games. Armani called it ?the most fashionable Olympic Games in history?, and we all get to take part.
