KZN Tour and Album Launch

KZN Tour and Album Launch

Date: 2016-02-26
Bassist IIdo Nandja living in Durban, who hails from Maputo, Mozambique and is touring KwaZulu-Natal this February to launch his debut album Paz A Todos (Peace to All).

From a young age Nandja engaged with music and through his involvement in a local music and dance company, Nandja began playing the timbila, a traditional xylophone, as well as percussion instruments. His dedication led to him performing at events and festivals around the world and Nandja is currently studying towards a Master's degree in jazz performance and a traditional music research project. Recognised as an outstanding and disciplined bass player and soloist, his debut album Paz A Todos (Peace to All) features a range of sounds and genres that combine his background in traditional music with the harmonic and melodic complexity of jazz.

His band typically features his good friends and Unity band members: Ildo Nandja on vocals and double bass, Sanele Phakathi on keys, Sebastian Goldswain on guitar and Sidney Rash on drums. "I want to offer the audience not just a show, but a memorable experience - a great party together with people they do and don't know, all united by the music," says Nandja.
