Fresh from a groundbreaking year in 2012, the Old Mutual Music at the Lake concert series returns to the breathtaking Durban Botanic Gardens for a special, intimate and spellbinding Valentine's show featuring Ard Matthews and the Durban City Orchestra on Thursday,14 February, 2013.
This special concert will see a unique five-song collaboration between the talented Ard Matthews and the enchanting Durban City Orchestra.
Over the course of the last decade and a half, well known singer and songwriter, Ard Matthews, has been honing his craft and moving people the world over. As the front man for Just Jinger, he led the band to incredible musical success across the globe and he recently released his debut solo album in 2012 to rave industry reviews.
Featuring around 40 members composed of both learners and experienced musicians from diverse backgrounds reflecting our rainbow nation, the Durban City Orchestra'srepertoire combines the classical and symphonic genres with popular and contemporary styles, often incorporating instrumental and vocal soloists, as well as choirs.
Proceeds from the performances go towards an innovative people and plant development programme, the Garden Window Project, within the Durban Botanic Gardens and the Wildlands Conservation Trust's Trees for Life initiative which sees community members growing trees to support their livelihoods.

Drinks, cooler boxes and picnic baskets are welcome Gates open at 17:00 and the show starts at 18:30. Secure parking is available on the Juventus ground. Entrance to all parking is off lower John Zikhale (Sydenham) Road, adjacent to the Botanic Gardens and the Munies Hockey Field also off lower John Zikhale (Sydenham) Road.
