What's the issue?

What's the issue?

A hundred and how many Billions of Rand spent on consultants this year alone? Well in my opinion that is still not enough. This is the bill for affirmative action, and I believe we have spent enough. As a proud South African, I am not totally against affirmative action; the only way to put right the wrongs of the previous government is through the system of affirmative action. The problem with affirmative action is that the system has been abused on a wholesale scale. So we should be spending double that on consultants. It is also an indication that the government does not know what it is doing. But then it would be unrealistic of us to expect the government to know what it was doing, so, bad idea to reduce the spending on consultants.

Talking about spending, there seems to be some wind behind the rumour that Zuma might still be liable to pay for the two hundred million Rand spent on security upgrades to his Nkandla property. Section 3.1 of the act stipulates that the property owner must "at his own expense take steps to the satisfaction of the minister in respect of the security of the said key point," so he may just have to cough after all. If he does, will we the taxpayer benefit or who gets the money back? Public Works Minister Thulas Nxesi could not find any evidence of public money being used to upgrade Nkandla, but Thuli Madonsela has vowed to continue with her inquiry. We are so lucky to have a public protector who actually tries to protect us. Amidst cries of a cover up, the declarations keep coming. When will the truth out?

Oh, and that leads me to another funny little anecdote that I picked up on. He He. It also concerns the truth and wanting it to come out, this one goes back a way to the arms deal wrangling where the alleged control freak, Judge Willie Seriti, was challenged to take a lie-detector test by a senior legal investigator, Mokgale Norman Moabi, who intimated that the process of selecting information that goes into the report is questionable, after Seriti delved him a "put down'. The question still begs why Judge Willie refused the lie detector, an innocent would welcome such a challenge would they not?

Oh and fun and games for Helen Zille as she faces accusations that the Gupta family provided funding for the DA. I don't see the problem, the Gupta's are clever people, no problem with backing both horses in the race, punters do it all the time at the gee gee's. Helen was quite right to refuse to admit or deny receiving money from the Guptas, just look what happened to the FNB when they got even slightly oppositional towards the government. Sure the Guptas need not worry too much, what with owning the New Age newspaper and all.

But lets talk about real problems, like Mali trying to defend itself from the resource wealth grabbing French military under the guise of the old terrorist bullshit story. If it weren't for the mineral wealth that none of the people of Mali get to share in, the French would not leave their lounge.

Oh and well done Bafana, you had me jumping.
