Driving The New Golf GTD

Driving The New Golf GTD

Date: 2017-08-17

Enter the performance diesel hatchback from Volkswagen, King Of The Hot Hatch, the Volkswagen Golf GTD.

The driving force under the hood is an entirely new four-cylinder Turbo Diesel Injected powerhouse of the EA288 series. This transverse mounted two-litre turbo motor has amazing qualities. Delivering a seemingly effortless 130 kilowatts, between 3 600 and 4000 rpm, the really amazing qualities of this motor are felt through the substantial 350 Newton meters of torque. Flipping from 80 to 120 kilometres per hour in just 7.5 seconds and skipping from 0 to 100 in just 7.4 seconds.

The six speed DSG gearbox just gobbled up those traffic circles and with all that power, conservative driving can get you fuel figures of 5,3 litres over 100 kilometres of a combined cycle.

The Golf GTD is ever so balanced, being a Golf 7, or 7.5 variant it shares this quality with the new GTi and the new GTR that have also just landed at McCarthy Volkswagen Durban as well.

With the awe inspiring performance and really balanced chassis, the new GTD also sports a whole package of driver assistance technology, as well as safety technology, that takes the compact class to new heights. The Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Traffic Alert system is a wonderful feature that really works effectively.

Along with its street cred, the new Golf model range comes standard with a 5 year or 90 000km Service Plan, a 3 year or 120 000km warranty and a 12 year anti-corrosion warranty. Service Intervals are set at 15 000km.

Test driving this car is not an option, it is an obligation, call McCarthy Volkswagen now on 031 - 367 6767 and arrange your date and time to test drive.
