The 91st Birthday Advent Of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba

The 91st Birthday Advent Of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba

Date: 2016-12-02
Durban North Sai Centre celebrated the 91st advent, of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, last Wednesday at the Greenwood Park Hall. The event started with a Hawan. Ahawanis the religious ceremony performed in temples and in homes that involves worship through the use of a sacred fire. The Sai Baba community came to celebrate this auspicious occasion and pay tribute for Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

Sai Baba took human form on 23 November 1926, in the remote village of Puttaparthi, in Southern India. From an early age, he demonstrated extraordinary, super human powers and displayed profound wisdom regarding spiritual matters. At age 14, he firmly declared that he had taken birth for the express purpose of leading mankind back onto the path of truth, righteous conduct, peace, love and non-violence. Sai devotees throughout the world celebrated his 91st advent on Wednesday, 23 November 2016.

Sai Baba, as he is lovingly called by his devotees once said, "Let the different faiths exist and let the glory of God be sung in all languages and tunes, that should be the ideal. Respect the differences between the faiths and recognise them as valid as long as they do not extinguish the flames of unity. If each person lives the ideals propounded by the founders of their religion, unaffected by greed or hate, then the world will be a happy and peaceful habitation for mankind".

Last Wednesday, the Sai community enjoyed plays and live entertainment, performed by the community's youth. The evening ended with a delicious feast and a time to catch up with fellow devotees.
