Rotary Benefit Concert
The Christmas concert features the highly talented vocalists and musicians. Nick Wium draws from the most outstanding students at Crawford and beyond as well as professional vocalists to ensure a world class performance.
The Audience can enjoy a full band, complementedwith strings and brass instruments. Rehearsals start in July, ensuring that this comprehensive concert is well presented. In true theatre style, all artists and performers are dressed in black tie, with dramatic make up and costumes.
Nick Wium has been showcasing this production for the past ten years, it is a program featuring a selection of Sacred and Secular song interspersed are Christmas Carols (audience participation) and the scripture reading of the Nativity story as found in the Bible.
This year the production has generously offered a performance to The Rotary Club of Umhlanga, to use as a fundraiser for their many valuable initiatives. Some of the music that will be presented this year is: Run Rodolf Run- Kelly Clackson, Don't Save it All For Christmas Day - Celine Dion, Have Yourselfa Merry Little Christmas - Mary J Blige, Little Drummer Boy - Baby Face, All Is Well Tonight - Ce Ce Winans, A Strange Way To Save The World - Rascal Flatts and Rejoice Greatly O Daughter of Zion from Handel's Messaih etc.
Some of the professional Musicians include Peter Enslin - often performing at Barnyard, Nina Watson a cellist from the KZNPO, Brad Nagoorsamy a top Durban Bassist, Venessa Tait-Jones a top Cape Town soprano and Jude Ganesan a top South African drummer and myself Nick Wium - Director of Music at Crawford College La Lucia.
