F1 Report

Date: 2013-07-04
It was all about the tyres again at this weekend's Brittish Grand Prix after Mercedes-Benz had just finished wiping the smile off their face for having been caught cheating in illegal tyre testing. A slap on the wrists had the whistle blowers Ferrari and Red Bull red in the face.

Ironic that Mercedes-bens driver Lewis Hamilton was the first of four drivers to blow a tyre on the eighth lap of Sunday's race, followed by Felipe Massa, Jean-Eric Verne and Sergio Perez.

Rosberg was followed across the finish line by Red Bull's Mark Webber, who took over the job of securing points for the team from Sebastian Vettel, after his RB9 Red Bull Renault suffered engine failure.

Fernando Alonso brought his Ferrari home in third place after a race filled with safety cars and tyre bursts. To avoid this sort of this on your car contact Kwik-Fit in Verulam (see ad for details).

With Vettel retiring the race for the driver's championship gets a little closer, however Vettel still leads on 132 points with Alonso closing in on him with his allotment of 111 and Kimi Raikkonen in third place with 98.

In the constructors championship Red Bull are way ahead of Mercedes with 219 to Mercedes' 171. Ferrari hold onto third place just three points behind with 168 and Lotus-Renault clings to fourth with 124 points.

The next event is off to Germany for the Grosser Preis Santander von Deutschland 2013 on Sunday the 7th of July around 2pm.
