Durban Talent Stage Launched
EThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede, will officially launch the free 'Durban Talent Stage', which will be run on selected Friday's from 13h00 to 14h00.
The Municipality's initiative, which will give local performers a chance to showcase their talent on a free stage, will also be televised on SABC 3's Expresso morning show, forming part of the 'South Africa's Future Stars' series to be filmed entirely in Durban.
Gumede explained: "The Durban Talent stage and the national television coverage will not only give our local stars a great platform to shine and be seen, it will also help promote our beautiful City to the rest of the country as these stars will be filmed on stage and also at iconic scenic locations around the City. What better way to showcase the vibrancy and rhythm of our locations and cultures, than through local performers "
This initiative is part of the Municipality's campaign to set the City of Durban in Motion, inspiring and encouraging local artists to develop their talent, with support from their City.
Several guest artists have been invited to tomorrow's launch, to encourage and inspire local performers. Child star, Lasandra Majolo will kick off the programme at 13h00 with a song highlighting the beauty of KwaZulu-Natal and Durban. The KZN song, which features rap by Ewok, was written by local musician, Evan Roberts with lyrics by Donnagh Roberts.
Two of the hottest Durban hip hop crews, Survivors and Champions, will set the stage alight with their energetic maneuvers.
Durban's own 'Justin Bieber,' teenage Andrew Sutton, who is the nephew of country and western songster Lance James, is sure to thrill the audience with his good looks, awesome stage presence and incredible voice.
Come and witness the talent of our local Future Stars on THE DURBAN TALENT STAGE tomorrow on the steps of the City Hall, in Church Walk.
