Iconic Honda Civic - Driven

Iconic Honda Civic - Driven

Author: Tomas Yoko

I was really excited to be getting the Honda Civic Sport to test drive for a week. News that the Honda Civic Type R has just been announced as the fastest front wheel drive production car in the World was being passed around and I knew I was in for a treat.

The Honda Civic Sport sedan had me thinking that it was gifted with multiple personalities. On one hand the Civic Sport was sophisticated, with plush accommodating leather seats and Smart keyless entry and push button engine ignition. First World sophistication was everywhere, the technology was tangible and it felt rich and rewarding. Then I tramped on the accelerator and there was a revolution.

The Civic Sport charged ahead with all the enthusiasm of its fifteen hundred VTEC TURBO engine. That's 127 kilowatts and 220 Newton metres of torque attached to a feisty CVT gearbox. It was thrilling.

The shiny aluminium pedals alluded to the sporty nature of the Civic Sport and the balanced and responsive chassis and suspension gave me really great feedback.

The Civic Sport and any of the Civic derivatives are packed with sophisticated driver assist technology including Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow, Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) System, Lane Departure Warning (LDW) System and Forward Collision Warning (FCW) System.

This car deserves a test drive, so contact Honda Umhlanga on 031 - 580 7900 or pop into their showroom at 15 Meridian Drive, Umhlanga Ridge and take a Civic for a ride.
