Flysafair Is Coming To Durban
"In the short time that we've been in the air, we've seriously disrupted the low-cost carrier market and we wanted to go all out to celebrate our first birthday so that people can see that we're serious about this business.
"We have always been committed to offering affordable air travel and giving more people the opportunity to experience South Africa. We want to make flying easy, affordable and we want to get there on time," said Kirby Gordon, vice president of sales and distribution at FlySafair.
Safair originated when South African Marine Corporation (Safmarine) purchased Tropair in 1965, and while the company has operated a great many aircraft, it is best known for its fleet of Lockheed Hercules 100-30 planes, currently the largest fleet in the world.
This legacy of operating and leasing aircraft across the continent is what has enabled FlySafair to achieve landmark success in such a short space of time, including the record-breaking 25 minute aircraft turn-around and the best on-time performance amongst all domestic airlines, while still offering rock-bottom fares that have driven the cost of flying down by as much as 39%.
"This would not be possible for a complete start-up commercial passenger airline. We've been fortunate in that our history and experience has meant we haven't faced many of the teething problems we would have otherwise. We're already there." Concluded Gordon.
However the best news is that Flysafair will be operating out of King Shaka International Airport as of late October. The new coastal destinations include East London. Ticket sales start at R399 and are available for purchase today at flysafair.co.za with flights starting in late October 2015.
