Beaten But Not Broken By Vanessa Govender

Beaten But Not Broken By Vanessa Govender

Date: 2018-10-05

Last week Thursday saw a room filled with tears at Vanessa Govender's book launch, Beaten But Not Broken, at Vovo Telo restaurant in Ballito. The book tells a factual story of domestic abuse.

Vanessa Govender spoke openly to the Ballito community, often choking back tears while talking about her graphic story of extreme abuse. Living with the painand how she was saved by her own relentless fighting spirit and finding the strength to come out into the public domain with her personal suffering.

"This is a story of truth, courage and determination. It bulldozes the boundaries for other women suffering in silence and opens up the possibilities of dealing with this delicate but relevant dilemma without shame or retribution. Well-done Vanessa Govender! So very proud of your achievement," Said Yegas Naidoo, one of the guests at the event.

What with Weinstein, the "Me Too" campaign, and waves of anti women and children abuse, this book adds to the voices calling for this to stop, to be put to an end in our society. We wish Vanessa a deserved success with her book.
