It is no secret that I have been trying to get invited to Karkloof Safari Spa for almost a decade. It is also no secret that for most people, Karkloof Safari Spa was completely off the affordability radar, but this all changed not so long ago, with a bit of restructuring and some deep and particular planning a new and more affordable Karkloof Safari Spa has emerged and I would love to tell you all about it.
Tell any of your friends that you are going to Karkloof Safari Spa and eyebrows will rise. Over the years this charmingly positioned day spa has gained an incredible reputation as one of the best spas in KZN and there is a reason for that, all their therapists are hand picked by Karkloof Safari Spa owner Fred Wörner, from the world's top Thai spa therapists.
On our arrival we were greeted by the sweet scent of aromatherapy oils, and a discreet army of friendly and almost invisible staff. I got to fill out the customary client form and within seconds I dissolved into my seat when the second question asked for my shoe size.
I knew I was in the right hands when they bothered to find out this infinitesimal detail. It was Blessing, who signed us in and showed us around, the full day spa started at 9am with a relaxing lounging at the Karkloof Safari Spa pools.
The three indoor pools are the best way to ease any muscles into total relaxation. The main pool is the biggest Jacuzzi pool I have ever seen and the temperature is a comfortable 38 degrees Celsius. The smaller two pools are for shock therapy, one is 6 degrees Celsius and the other is 42 degrees Celsius, and we were encourage to warm our bodies first in one pool and then move to the cold poolthe experience is priceless and I could not get enough of the tingles.
Sai was my therapist and she comes from Phuket and because I asked for silence on my client form there was no talking whatsoever, which I was very appreciative of. But while I was having my feet scrubbed Sai spoke about her love for Thai Massage.
Now this is truly one of the most important aspects of the relevance of the Karkloof Safari Spa, the therapists sincerely care about you and your therapeutic needs, it is so rare to find therapists that possess compassion in this industry and don't consider it just a job.
There is just so much to tell you about Karkloof Safari Spa, the wildlife, the luxury, however I do want to encourage you to just splash out. They offer a half-day spa package from just R1500 and R2500 for a full day spa package. You really have no excuse not to and for all those that think its too far, it took us one hour and forty five minutes to get there and it was oh so worth it.
Karkloof Safari Spa is not just about the massage, its also about the beauty of the surroundings, its about the tranquillity and general hospitality. Smoothies, ice cold sparkling water and the therapeutic steam and sauna chambers are just some of the fabulous features you should look out for when you book your day at Karkloof Safari Spa.
