F1 Report

F1 Report

Date: 2013-10-18
Vettel made it five in a row in a show of supremacy by Infiniti Red Bull with mark Webber following his team mate home for a well deserved podium 1 - 2 finish.

However it is not all over just yet, the next track meeting in India holds the points that Vettel and Red Bullneed to snatch the driver's and Manufacturer's title championship for 2013.

Lotus opened a few eyes right at the start of the Japanese Grand Prix when Romain Grosjean burst through Vettel and Webber right at the start of the race. For a while it looked as if Webber was going to take the podium but when he was moved onto a tree stop strategy, it seemed evident that management were not interested in having any of that.

However Fernando Alonso of Ferrari pulled off fourth position leaving him just ninety points shy of the German and 100 points left in the last four races of the championship.

It was a bad day for Mercedes -Benz as they lost Lewis Hamilton early in the race when he collided with Romain Grosjean's Lotus and suffered a puncture and damage to his front wing. Lewis later retired from the race.

Vettel's win in Japan brings his total points to 297 and in second place is Fernando Alonso with 207. That means Vettel could take the title at the next round by finishing at least fifth in India. Raikkonen holds tight onto third place with 177 to Hamilton's 161 in fourth. Mark Webber moved up to 148 getting back into the fray.

With a 1 - 2 result, Red Bull grabbed 43 points, making their total a massive 445 in all. Ferrari are giving Mercedes a run pulling away to a 10 point lead with 297 verses 287.  Lotus are fighting hard and winning points consistently now and are contending with their tally of 264.

The next race day is in India at the Budhh International Circuit on Sunday the 27th at 11:30, and the excitement builds.
