What is the issue

So there we have it, the local elections are over and the counting is done and now the shenanigans of coalition negotiations begin. The ruling party took a rather serious knock as was expected by most, and we will see the response, however it seems that number 1 still has a firm hold on power so it is likely that he will continue to entertain us for a while yet.

Now that we have put that behind us, we are presented with a wonderful opportunity to go about running the country in a more unified way. Here is our chance to do away with the "Us and Them" mentality that is so prevalent in our national thinking. Here is a chance for our leadership to work together to make the most of the budget with the service of the people kept firmly in mind.

So if we can do away with the old mentality and usher in a new "rainbow nation" style of governance then we will all be able to share in the bounty of this amazing country we live in. And if we could collect fairy farts then we would all have enough tinsel glitter to go around.

Enough cynicism for one day, lets change the subject to other voting that has yet to come about. The Presidential race rages on in the US and as it does it seems that even the American public are growing weary of the prospect of either one of their two candidates actually moving into the White House. I myself am not sure which I would choose, the crazy money making machine or the cold hearted war mongering ice maiden. It is not an easy choice to make. Bring back Bernie I say.

The President of Turkey has achieved sweeping success with the quashing of the coup d'Ètat that nearly happened in his country. Rumours of American military intelligence involvement abounded and in the meantime Russian President Vladimir Putin has met with Turkish president Recep Tayip Ergodan. As Ergodan now leads the largest army in Europe and is meeting with Putin, I imagine the Americans to have all their listening devices aimed in their direction.

One possible positive outcome to the meeting is a new direction in the Syrian war where the two presidents views differ a lot. Ergodan wants Assad out and Putin is his primary support. Who knows what the Americans want in the region because they seem to be backing everyone except Russia.

My eyes tear up with disappointment when I see the blatant propaganda aimed at Russia by some narrow-minded Western media, and this blanket ban on the Russian Para-Olympic team is so transparent that it begs the question "Does the doping body of the Olympic games have any clue what is going on?"

Back home and the power struggle continues, this time it is a threat from NUMSA for a countrywide strike over wage negotiations with Eskom. So dust off those generators and fill the jerry cans as we might just go back to the load shedding woes we recently escaped from.
