As I write this it is Mandela Day, and I am so saddened by the performance of our beloved ANC, that I struggle to hold back the tears, thinking of what Madiba sacrificed, What Oliver Thambo sacrificed, what everyone who has given their lives for the betterment of this nation has sacrificed, only for it to all be pissed on by number 1. He spat in Madiba's face, our ancestors must be crying in pain watching the disgusting developments our rainbow nation is being subjected to.
AmaBhungane, we have got to love them, their payoff line reads, "Digging dung. Fertilising democracy." I love it, it's amazing. If you are not sure of who AmaBhungane are then I introduce the AmaBhungane Centre for Investigative Journalism. These are the people who have uncovered the rot in our government. They have risked a lot to bring the truth to the newspapers and the public awareness. They were instrumental in releasing the Gupta emails and they are still going at it, hammer and tongs, digging for the dung of our political quagmire, so we can clean out the rot and grow our democracy into a strong, undeniable force. Not something that a few businessmen can control like some remote toy.
Well we're a long way off from that but the progress is gaining momentum like a train, just not a PRASSA train.
From what I have read, it looks as though the Guptas were selling government contracts like candyfloss at the fair. But then I have a vivid imagination. You be the judge. Two more companies have been added to the list of international companies who are being accused of paying millions and millions in backhands, bribes, or whatever you want to call it, to the Gupta network. Liebherr International, a Swiss company and Shanghai Zhenhua, a Chinese company have been exposed for their dealing in this nest of corruption that is still being unfolded as the sticky brown stuff hits the fan. Like SAP who was awarded a one Billion Rand contract, allegedly after paying the Guptas R100 million. But this is all old news. We must push to get our democracy and our country back from the thieves who have captured it.
It is so frustrating to think how far we could have come if our leaders had been honest good men.
Makhosi Khoza is showing us the way, despite death threats she continues to call for Zuma to step down.
Anyway we had better start behaving ourselves because the Americans are coming, a whole bunch of American troops are to engage in training operations in South Africa, how they got it right to send an armed force into our country and start war games is frightening for me, to say the least. In other war games the Russian and the Chinese navies are getting together and having joint naval exercises. What are we doing
And as if to answer my question, Japanese whalers have defied a moratorium against whale hunting and have sent out two ships aimed at gathering data that will allow them to start commercial whale hunting again. The tears roll down.
