As reality starts setting in and the repercussions of state capture and maladministration start showing up in our daily lives, as the bight and sting of the wholesale looting of our economy only starts being felt now, the guilty parties are looking left and right for an exit strategy that won t cost them too much.
Well Cyril must be being kept in the dark, being shocked and surprised by the latest Eskom load shedding, remember he was also dismayed by the VBS Bank scandal and and and, the ANC has suddenly done a one eighty switch on their Land Expropriation stance.
Jackson Mthembu, the ANC s Chief Whip, recently announced that parliament will be amending our beloved constitution, during this parliamentary term, and that the ad-hoc committee will be headed up by Thoko Didiza. A few days ago this bill was going to be addressed in the sixth sitting of parliament but it seems a new urgency has dawned. I wonder what could possibly have caused this decision to be taken Jackson himself has been quoted a few weeks ago as saying, "The issue is if there is no possibility of you concluding this work, why start it " Gotta get this done before the elections, whether it s possible or not.
Meanwhile on this same issue, documented evidence that our former president Thabo Mbeki has come out against the policies being implemented by the ANC, saying that the ruling party is embarking on a course of action that fundamentally changes its character and position. An exert from the document has been quoted as Thabo saying, Certainly, the argument that has been advanced by the ANC leadership since the 54th National Conference about the Land Question communicates the firm statement that the ANC has changed in terms of its character, it is no longer a representative of the people of South Africa, and that is very sad.
Other warnings are doing the rounds, one very interesting one is in regards to the massive gas reserves found off our coastline by French oil firm Total. Brulpadda is reported to have massive reserves; mind boggling wealth lies under those waters. So now with the news about a dividing up of Eskom into three divisions, there are warnings and allegations that this new move is an even bigger con than state capture was. How it is alleged to be structured is radical.
Check this, Cyril is married to Tshepo Motsepe, Patrice Motsepe's Sister, and our renewable energy minister, Jeff Radebe is married to Patrice s other sister Bridgette Motsepe Radebe. So the President and the energy minister are both married to sisters of Patrice, the owner of the biggest energy company in our beloved country, African Rainbow Energy & Power, AREP. AREP s business and investment strategy is aimed at Generation, Transmission and Distribution, matching Cyril s new Eskom plan exactly, which is to divide Eskom into three sections handling Generation, Transmission and Distribution. Then there is the issue of the 27 Independent Power Producers, shrouded in secrecy and the accusation plot thickens.
My view is, if you have a monopoly and you can t produce the product, you don t deserve the monopoly anymore and power production should be opened up to every individual who wants to do it for themselves. Power to the people!
