Oh how the beans are spilling in the Zondo commission enquiry into state capture, how seldom the term treason is employed in the reporting of the shameful shenanigans that involve the highest members of our government and parliament.
As if we don't have enough problems in our beloved country, the revelations about massive corruption, mismanagement and deception, involving the multinational telecommunications giant Ericsson and cheap internet services for Johannesburg, has the US Department of justice also looking into the deal, once again involving ministers and top government officials.
It's like kids at a candy party grabbing the sweets with both hands, oblivious to the consequences, candies flying everywhere, dropping on the floor, spilling out the bowl, hands grabbing greedily for more without a care in the world or the slightest consideration for their fellow human beings. Total disregard seems to be the order of the day. And with the almost zero repercussions, a judiciary that seems to be hamstrung, a president that seems to be bound and gagged, the candy party goes on unabated with no sign of the parents anywhere.
But we should not feel special, it a global problem, its everywhere, its everywhere. Fake News, like Fakebook, is becoming the order of the day, especially in the Russiagate saga as desperate American opposition to Trump steps across the line and into overdrive. Buzzfeed's blunder concerning Michael Cohen had to be retracted, MSNBC, Washington Post, The Guardian, they're all victims of what looks like desperation or a concerted effort that will employ any means possible to achieve an objective. One hilarious saga reports on an expert on MSNBC telling a story of how US diplomats in Cuba were being targeted by Russian sophisticated microwaves, which turned out to be Caribbean crickets mating calls. I kid you not.
More and more I lose faith in leadership, the world over, not just here in SA. I have lost faith in the political system and now firmly believe that a President, Prime Minister, King or single figurehead simply does not have the cognitive capacity to rule or govern even a small group of people. If it were up to me, I would employ a small group of people, an odd number so they can't be split down the middle, and then let them govern and make decisions. Leadership the world over is so corrupt and the human element in our governance is our downfall. Maybe Artificial Intelligence is the way forward for the human race. We have consistently proven that we are not ideal at leading ourselves.
If you don't believe me then you just have to watch the ad campaign of Benny Gantz, former Israeli Defence Force chief, where he uses his kill rate and a bombing campaign against the Palestinians as justification for his leadership skills.
I mean look at the statistic that was recently revealed where the richest 26 people in the world have the same amount of money as the poorest half of the world's population. Now considering that we have reached 7.7 billion people in January of this year, that's three billion, eight hundred and fifty million people. I know right, staggering isn't it.
