Through my eyes

Through my eyes

Its not the way of thinkingit's the way of being

In recent weeks I have been hanging around some super special people. Most of them are very successful; super powerful and insanely wealthyone thing that really strikes me about these marvellously special individuals is their incredible self-confidence.

Their self worth and poise is as real as their achievements and certificates, which boldly adorn their walls. Being around super achievers is like a super powerful shot of Vitamin B or a triple Vodka and Red Bull Bomb. I love it.

Hanging around these super powerful people is also slightly intimidating. Rubbing shoulders with billionaires is no walk in the park for me, however one thing that I know for certain is that maintaining such a high level of personal success is hard work most of the time, and a lot of the time even these highly driven individuals require certain validations.

Recently, while interviewing a super accomplished individual, we will call him John, (I am sorry that I will not offer any names, I like preserving 'John's' anonymity in the sincere hope that he will part with more of his priceless knowledge to me soon). So I asked John how does he keep his cool when all the nonsense is going on around him. How do you keep marching forward, brokering deals, making more money in a day than I do in a year How do you keep in all together under duress

John as usual was so nonchalant about it all. His best advice ever, goes something like; "Rule number one; Don't sweat the small stuff." I love that rule, its what I want to hear, "Rule two; concentrate on the issue and not the details" because once you take care of the issues, they will take care of the details. And "Rule three; Just keep on walking," moving forward, marching forth. Each day closer to the goal, closer to the dream, closer to that space that makes us tingle with celestial yearning"You know what I mean." John concluded. "Oh yes I do." I smiled.

I want to believe that genuine self-confidence and self-esteem, needs nothing from the outside, it's a sense of feeling worthwhile, regardless of your accomplishments. But in this world this kind of thinking is a tad ambitious.

Self-esteem is something we must seek out from ourselves now, right now, as we cannot put it off for another moment. Self-confidence is about our individual consciousness; it's the quality of self-respect manifested in our emotional life and our behaviour.

Cultivating genuine self-confidence and self-esteem may very well be the work of a lifetime, and likely requires the long, slow processofdeliberately befriendingyourself.

Chin up every one, now own this moment!
