Oh my word! The circus that we call our government has now gone into full swing with the clowns doing the trapeze, the lion tamer imitating the fat lady and the ringmaster is drunk. It's a goon show. It's a dog and pony show. It is like watching a comedy tragedy unfold in front of our very eyes.
Our not so first rate public prosecutor, Busisiwe, has now taken it upon herself to start rewriting the constitution. I was wondering why we had not heard anything from the Public Prosecutor, Thulii used to fill us all with a sense of hope. Now the new public prosecutor went public with her views and the poor Rand took a hiding. Busi is after R1.125 Billion Rand, a fraction of what has been lost to Guptagate. I mean the fine imposed on that free coalmine they were given was R1.2 billion alone. I mean can't she just concentrate on the State Capture case, or is she ignoring that for obvious reasons Since when did the public protector become an economic policy maker What is going on Please somebody tell me! This is another attack on our Reserve Bank. Busi is being accused of protecting the Guptas and it looks like she has done more for them than any member of the South African Public. Die Vryburger says that her commitment to protecting Zuma will prevent any investigation into high-ranking government officials.
Then bring on the circus camel and let him try to be the juggling act why don't we, the new mining charter must be the biggest blunder so far this year. The losses are astronomical and they haven't run their full course as yet. Foreign investors are pulling out faster than a drag racer when the lights go green. What a mess, which industry do you think is the backbone of our economy We are tearing it down piece by piece as if we are purposefully intent on destroying it.
Look at our fabulous airline, SAA, South African Airlines. Just the other day our brand new finance minister Maulsi Gigaba (I should call him Maloosey) expressed his full confidence in Dudu Myeni, our SAA Chairperson. On Monday SAA needed to pay back R2.3 billion and the executives were searching high and low for their boss who had gone AWOL. News that Standard Chartered Bank will not be renewing its loan is public knowledge and so it looks like our airline is bankrupt with nobody willing to lend it money. Our Government guaranteed this loan, does anyone know what that means And the circus goes on.
As usual South Africa is not alone in its madness, the rest of the world seems to be either following suit or leading from the front. Breaking news about a toxic waste site that is polluting the Mediterranean sea, being hushed up by politicians who are scared that some 2 million Syrian refugees will leave Lebanon for Europe if this issue is dealt with. So they hide it.
Then in Syria, the American lead coalition shot down a Syrian Su-22 Government warplane. Australia immediately suspended air operations. The Russians halted their cooperation with the US and said that all coalition aircraft will now be tracked as air targets. Here we go bring on the clowns.
