It's a cold, grey, rainy Thursday evening here in Ballito, the power is out and our village is quiet but It's also an amazing day of significant spiritual, psychic, historical, astronomical, astrological, religious, physical, mental and emotional happenings that are going on all over the world!
It's the Spring Equinox, the Jewish Holiday Purim, the Supermoon in Libra, India's Festival of Colour, Bahá'' Naw-Rúz, Chinese Ch nf n, the Persian Nowruz, the Japanese Shunbun no Hi, the World Storytelling Dayand the International Day of Happiness.
This has been a very auspicious time and I'm sure all of you felt some emotional tremors in the last couple of days.
This month's supermoon has the unfortunate name of "full worm supermoon."Not only does it have an unfortunate name, it's also quite rare. This is the first time in nearly two decades that a supermoon coincides with the spring equinox. An Equinox - or spring equinox, in this case - is the point at which "the Earth's equator passes through the centre of our Sun." Basically, that just means that the day and night is of equal length.
Its called a 'worm moon' Because it coincides with the time when earthworms start to emerge at the end of winter. (In the northern hemisphere.)
Something big was happening, and while it's true we are going through our personal development and changing, this was more than that. This was us finally being done with lessons, finally seeing outdated patterns, and being ready to start making different choices.
The lesson that this full moon should teach us is that we have to look at ourselves critically, be honest, and make the decision to see things for what they are instead of how we wished they were. But above all, we have to see that not only is balance the key to ful fillment, but it is to love as well.
As we heading into April, three months of 2019 done and dusted, we have so much to look forward to this year, so many changes to make as we choose new government and vote for a party that wants our vote and will work for our interests collectively.
As I sit here writing my column, I am so grateful for my noisy diesel generator and I pray that all my fellow country folk are taking adequate meassures to ensure that they are prepared for an extended loadshedding, as it looks like it will be dark for a little bit longer.
As I sit here, smelling the diesel fumes and drowning the noice with Tibetan chanting I am filled with hope for our future and I feel a tremendous blessing to be alive.
