I think I have been bitten by the Cape Town bug, now I know why they call her the Mother City. Things just seem right here in the friendly city. Every time I go to Cape Town it's as if I am getting closer to the permanent move. But it is just a dream.
Everything works and even if it doesn't it is just as it is suppose to be. Reading the daily newspaper while having my breakfast, its full of good news, like how the city is spending more money on the homeless and the clean-up operations around town.
I love the smell of Cape Town, that deep kelp scent that lingers everywhere; I love the brilliant colours of the sunsets, the stunning scenery, great lifestyle and the friendliest people. The easy pace of life and cosmopolitan mix of culture attracts many people from all around the world.
I am so attracted to the whole outdoor lifestyle. People in Cape Town are so health conscious, you can see whole families doing their thing any time of the day, not to mention the weekends where the cyclists, walkers, hikers and even surfers (brrrr) come out to play.
One of the first things I noticed was that Cape Townians really love their markets. You get a whole range of locally made food and crafts that you can't find anywhere else, it's a wonderful way to mingle with locals and check out their talent.
There is an abundance of colour here, gorgeous art is everywhere, and with its billing as a World Design Capital, it's hard to miss the innovation going on in all reaches of the city.
Oh and the buildings of the Mother City have such an eclectic mix of inspirations from classical European to Middle Eastern, African and ultra-modern. A drive through the streets can take you from Oxford to Zanzibar in just a short mile.
Also the food here is so dam good. The people in Cape Town really support their restaurants. When the weather is right almost every place is filled to the rafters with wine drinking foodies, soaking up the extreme sunrays and munching on some fresh and diverse and divine fair. It's hard to have a bad meal here, trust me I have tried.
Oh and I will leave the best for last, the wine, with its heavenly wine route that brought me here in the first place and what keeps bringing me back to the Cape every time.
We are so blessed to be just two hours away from this beautiful Mother of all Mothers. So if you are planning a little break, Kulula has great holiday packages. We stayed at the Bantry Bay Suite Hotel, which was so accommodating and close to everything we wanted to see, I could recommend it to everyone.
