What's the issue?

What's the issue?

Well well I was intrigued to see the great military might of NATO and the US come up against a brick wall when they realised that there was very little they could do to stop Vladimir Putin from taking the Ukrain. He may not have finished the job yet, but Putin definitely has the upper hand in the conflict.

This is a frightening set of circumstances with so much more at stake than the rich fertile land of the Ukrain or the productive educated population.

In what is playing out like a real life chess game, Vladimir Konstantinov, the speaker for the Supreme Council of Crimea, signed the declaration of Independence for Crimea from the Ukraine. Backed up by the head of Sevastopol City Council, Yuri Doynikov.

Some speculators imply that the West was instrumental in trying to wrench the Ukraine away from Russian influence and that there was a concerted effort form a united Western front to gain control of the Ukraine, just a few kilometres from Moscow.

Well the threat to the whole world that the plaited hair ex Prime Minister Yulia Timoshenko refers to is not the crisis of military action in the heart of Europe, it is the financial war that could cause the collapse of the dollar.

Some say that the BRICKS countries could stand behind Russia in the conflict and should America and NATO continue to meddle in the area and go as far as to be so spiteful and impose sanctions on Russia, then the BRICKS countries will dump the billions and billions of US Dollar bonds into the market, effectively destroying the American dollar and causing worldwide turmoil.

I usually don't know what I'm talking about, but if something like this should happen, then the whole world would suffer a terrible fate. So I think at that price, let Putin have his old state back and let us get along with minding our own business, namely that of getting the economy back up and growing.

Back home it is jobs for pals as usual, the list of those who are soon to be seated in Parliament is filled with number 1's loyalist crowd. With less than two months to elections I am surprised to see how calm all the parties are. Maybe they are holding back for a big push closer to the time.

A source of much mirth for me was the news of the Economic Freedom Front's attempt to not pay an IEC deposit being thrown out of court with costs. I am assuming once again that perhaps the Economic Freedom Front wants everything to be free and that is why they are refusing to pay the deposit to the Independent Electoral Commission. Or maybe Julius is just special, we all know he has the money, and it is a deposit. If it weren't so funny it would be sad.

Good news is the investment by the UK of over two billion Rand in the SKA radio project being built in South Africa and Australia. Maybe we will get a simulcast of the Pistorius trial.
