Digital marketing and social media are relatively new phenomena and are changing all the time. Most businesses don't really know where to turn. Terms like search engine optimisation (SEO) and Google Adwords are known but often not understood. Should a business be on Linked-in or Facebook or are there other platforms that are more appropriate? Does a company use social media to advertise or just to facilitate a conversation with customers?

Marketing is still about getting and retaining customers. The promotion efforts need to be directed at the right segments to ensure increased revenue. Feedback is also needed from clients to ensure that products and services evolve to keep up with changing customer needs. Social media can be used for both.

Make people want to follow you by sharing relevant and interesting content that will help them in some way. Social media platforms are there purely as a brand exposure and loyalty tool and facilitate some advertising space. Don't force your products or services onto your followers unless in a designated advertising space.

This is an area you should really look to engage a specialist to help to ensure your spend is not wasted and you don't offend customers in any way.
