Surf Report

Date: 2013-09-27
Round 1 of the Roxy Pro France is ON this morning Tuesday, September 24th, in clean two-to-four foot waves at the backup venue of La Penon in Hossegor, France, with a full day of competition scheduled for the opening day of the waiting period.

Stop No. 7 of 8 on the 2013 ASP Women's World Championship Tour (WCT), the Roxy Pro France was originally scheduled to unfold in July, but was rescheduled due to a lack of surf. The new waiting period of September 24 through 30 is set to see the ASP Top 17 take on the world-class beachbreak conditions of Hossegor, with competition beginning this morning at 8am local time.

"We're going to get started on the opening day of the waiting period at 8:30am," Jessi Miley-Dyer, ASP Women's Tour Manager said. Up first was five-time ASP Women's World Champion Stephanie Gilmore of Australia, taking on our own rookie Bianca Buitendag and progressive Brazilian Silvana Lima.

Jordy Smith of Cape Town, South Africa was a standout at the Hurley Pro at Trestles, consistently posting high scores while advancing to the Semifinals. The powerful South African was unable to put a stop to a rampaging Aussie, Taj Burrow in the Semifinals, and finished equal 3rd overall.
