Whats The Issue?

Whats The Issue?

Date: 2014-06-20
Oh the beautiful game. Lets all turn our attention to the beautiful game. Lets throw billions of Euros, Dollars, Pounds and Rands at this beautiful game. Lets eat drink and be merry and not pay any attention to the starving millions who are desperately trying to drag their impoverished lives out of the dirt of Brazil. Lets give them some grandiose stadiums to add to their burdens, stadiums that should cost them millions to upkeep. It will provide jobs of course, jobs weeding the paving and sweeping the seats. So why should Brazil spend all that money on hospitals and health care when they can build stadiums for the beautiful game.

Even more absurd we could be, we could give the soccer world cup to a nation that spends only 1,5% of its GDP on infrastructure upgrades and development. A country, much like ours, wracked with inequalities and financial turmoil without Sepp's help.

I don't need to put the boot in with Sepp, there are so many others already doing it I am off the hook with this one. He attacked the British Media, not the wisest move he has made.

While we are concentrating on the beautiful game, lets keep our eyes focused on the screen and not be distracted by the madness that seems to be erupting everywhere else. The human tragedy that is unfolding in Pakistan, Syria, Iraq, Sudan, Kenya, Ukraine and almost every corner of the globe. What is happening to humanity? Human rights abuse everywhere. Gruesome atrocities committed by ISIS? Inhumane attacks on civilians by Al-Shabab?

I must say I was giggling a little when I heard that Russia was threatening to shut off the gas supply to Ukraine due to unpaid bills of millions of Euro. They had better get that sorted before winter. Maybe Obommer will give them gas, he was the one that peed on Putin's battery with the help of his EU and NATO buddies. Putin and his gas giants will gladly sell the gas to China, reportedly good payers, ask the English.

All these problems sit squarely on the shoulders of the leaders. It appears to me, my tiny little mind, that there is no will to do the right thing for the people. All our leaders are doing are watching the bank balance and looking for more trade, more power, more kak and not committing to the solutions that give the poverty stricken populations back their dignity and a chance to create a life for themselves and their families.

Then there is Julius, back to his old political shenanigans, sacking anybody who does not give him their backing. Looking to hold onto power with not a thought for those who gave it to him. Lovely stuff people.
