As we watch the amazing nation that we built together slowly erode away, one load shedding stage after another, I struggle to understand what the actual #^@& is happening in our country.
Every headline is another nightmare, "South Africa loses an estimated R22 billion annually due to fraud and corruption in the health sector", and "Over 9,000 planned job cuts have been announced for South Africa in 2020" and "472 Farm attacks, 49 farm murders in South Africa - January to December 2019".
It's one fraud case after another, one pillaging and plundering act after another. I can't wait for the day that we start reading headlines that detail the detention and incarceration of the long fingered individuals who have stolen so many people's hopes and dreams.
In Ireland and Germany they are using the democratic system to change what they don't like about their leaders. It's being called a political earthquake as Shin Fein had a landslide result putting them on top of the pole, and Germany's right wing AfD lost their front-runner who was primed to replace Merkle.
It is a political landslide that is gaining momentum across Europe, leaving the establishment all wide eyed and perplexed.
I hold very little hope for a voter solution to our problem of pillaging leaders. We will have to come up with another solution. Any ideas
Our President took on a huge undertaking when he stepped up to the leadership position in the AU. Just last year November reports were issued that show that Africa as a continent loses more than fifty billion Dollars a year in criminal activities. Now that's a challenge. The friction in Mali is escalating and wars just keep raging on the continent. I pray for him to have the strength to solve the Libya debacle, such a travesty, and that is just the tip of the mountain of issues facing this continent, never mind this country.
The sticky brown stuff is hurtling towards the fan at the OPCW (Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons) where accusations of supressing reports about the fake chemical weapon attack in Douma.
Talking about chemical weapons, the Coronavirus has killed over a thousand people so far and it shows little signs of slowing down. It has now overtaken the SARS virus, an unfortunate name they gave that virus. Not much we can do except pray and wash your hands. The GoDurban project makes a man want to drop his face into his hands and cry long crocodile tears.
As Julian Assange wins another press award, his fate still hangs in the hands of a rather suspect government that is now so guilty of the human rights abuses it uses as an excuse to attack other nations and bomb them to shreds.
In the meantime, pray for the souls in Turkey and Syria as the tensions escalate again and lives are destroyed. Erdogan is promising more military reprisals. When will it end.
