Downsize Your Life, Live Your Dream
"When you are content to be simply yourself and don't compare and don't compete everbody will respect you"
Thank you for all the messages of encouragements and kindness. My message last week was a tad bit dramatic but some things in life need to touch one deeply in order to make a lasting impression.
I still get so many people asking me "Why did you do it "
There are so many aspects why I decided to downscale my life, not one of them sigulary is more important than the other, lets just say that it was a life choiceI no longer want to live in a space that does not fit my being.
Recently, everyone seems to be talking about finding their dream and living their passion. So many people are talking about it, but so few are actually doing it.
We are contantaly told; do more. Start new habits. Get more disciplined. Do, do, do. But what if that's not an option for you
Most of us don't have more time to freely spend on a new activity. We are maxed out, exhausted, and growing increasingly disillusioned with the promises that are sold to us in the media.
But maybe there is another way.
What if the road to finding your life's work was actually quite simple What if it required you to do less, not more
I have reached the crossroads in my life where I need very little. All I need is the time to do what is right for me. When I started to declutter, and get serious about simplifying my life, I thought I owned so much - it bothered me, because I live in the world that has so little.
But homestly, I thought I would be happier with more. I didn't care if I had to work harder, or spend more to get it. I thought it was worth it. I rewarded long work weekswith shopping and after a bad day, medicated with spending. I didn't know that's what I was doing, but I can see my patterns quite clearly now that I'm not so busy and distracted.
As humans, we are bound to our possessions through strong feelings of sentiment and/or nostalgia. It's easy to toss things away into a cabinet, closet, or drawer. This way, they don't add visible clutter to our lives, and we avoid facing our conflicted feelings towards having them. Out of sight, out of mind.
I want more joy, more adventure, more delicious, home cooked meals, more travel, more clarity, more giving, and more love. And I know thatthe answer is less.
Through the downsizing process, I've realized that it's so much more than organizing my stuff, emptying my closets, or living in a smaller space - it's about creating a life with room for what matters most - the time we have left in this world.
"Care about people's approval and you will be their prisioner".
