Already he understood how to speak soundlessly the Om, the word of the words, how to speak it soundlessly into himself with the inhalation, how to speak it soundlessly out of himself with the exhalation, with gathered soul, the forehead surrounded by the glance of the clearly-thinking spirit. Already he understood how to know in the innermost of his entity Atman, undestroyable, one with the universe." Excerpt from H. Hesse s "Siddhartha"
Breathing is something the body does automatically. But did you know that the way we breathe changes depending on our state of mind and how we feel Have you noticed how your breathing pattern changes with your emotions or in certain situations Probably not, however we are stressed or fearful we tend to take fast and shallow breaths, whereas when we are relaxed and at ease we breathe gently and more steadily.
Breathing is the first thing we do when we are born and the last thing we do before we die but we don t give much importance to our breathing
A family friend upon hearing about my irregular sleeping patterns advised me on a simple breathing technique that allows me to fall asleep with a certain amount of ease.
As I started practicing my sleep inducing breathing technique, I started experiencing a really powerful awakening, which I would love to share with you.
He said, When you are breathing correctly your body is being supplied with the right amount of oxygen, replenishing the brain and other vital organs with essential nutrients. Breathing incorrectly can affect the levels of carbon dioxide - or CO2 - in the blood. While oxygen is important for our bodies to function properly, CO2 is just as vital.
Oxygen is a natural medicine . We only need to learn how to breath properly and make a habit of it.
Since I started being conscious of my breath, I realised that breathing allows you to trust in the flow of your life without getting too attached to the drama of it. It allows you to rise above the situation and remind yourself that there is also a bigger picture to life. Things happen for a reason, even if you can t see what they are at the time.
Just a few quiet moments, sitting back, and concentrating on the most natural human action, our breath, can have an amazing effect.
With breathing being so crucial to life and the way in which we breathe having such an impact on our health and wellbeing, I believe it is sensible to become more aware of how we breathe, so as to be able to choose to breathe in a way that supports us to be more healthy and feel more in control of ourselves
Procrastination is the killer of future dreams. Initiative is the creator of today s greatest experiences and yesterday s greatest memories. We must seize today with all that it has to offer us and make it the greatest week we have ever lived. And in the midst of that, to never forget the breath.
