What's The Issue?

So while we frolic in the surf and splurge on prezzies I urge you to take a moment and think of those who will not be receiving anything this Christmas. I know there is a mountain of charity out there at this time of the year but there is an escarpment of need, what with the economy being tethered and beaten into a former shadow of itself, the poor have suffered more than anyone else.
There are so many places where you can give, all it takes is some non perishable goods and a short amount of your time. In any event I urge you to give outside of your usual circle and in one that is going to help the impoverished like the Christmas Fair Fund, you can reach June Garner on 083 441 4282 and she will direct you. Then there is the Summerhill Home where Paula Owen can help you on 083 6539 778. Alternatively Highway Hospice does amazing work and they can be reached on 031 825 2582 or cell 082 278 2561. They get by on charity alone and need your help this Christmas.
So there lies the big question of Life. What's it all about? At the end of another year we seem further from our goals as a species on this planet than we ever were before.
We contemplate the environment at our COP21 meeting but the agenda of our insatiable craving for the flesh of our fellow animals, which drives the fisheries and animal agriculture efforts into producing 51% of all greenhouse gas emissions.
It is like the war on terrorism where there are bad terrorists and moderate terrorists and we can somehow be at war with them while we buy oil from them. We are getting conned both sides.
As the year draws to an end and we evaluate our lives in 2015, looking to improve or adjust them in 2016 we need to evaluate some home truths and try to get some perspective on where we are going and what new year?s resolutions we are going to commit to for next year. Here are a few aspects a friend of mine pointed out that I wouold like to share with you.
"Success is going from failure to failure without a loss of enthusiasm". Winston Churchill
"Life is about making an impact not an income" Napoleon Hill
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do, than by the ones you did, so throw off the bowlines, sail away from safe harbors, catch trade winds in your sail. Explore, dream, discover". Mark Twain
"Your time is limited so don't waste it living somebody else's life". Steve Jobs
"You can never cross the ocean until you have the courage to lose sight of the shore". Christopher Colombus
"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined" Henry David Thoreau
"Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can." Arthur Ashe
"Success is knowing what you want to do with your life, what you don't want to do with it, living with conviction for your choices and in harmony with the consequences" Richard Mark Dobson
May 2016 bring you blessings.
